Its no wonder that Asim Bajwa’s younger brothers opened their first Papa John pizza restaurant in 2002, the year he went to work for General Pervez Musharraf as a lieutenant colonel on
the military dictator’s staff.
Nadeem Bajwa, 53, who started as a delivery driver for the pizza restaurant franchise, his brothers and Asim Bajwa’s wife and sons now own
a business empire which set up 99 companies in four countries, including a pizza franchise with 133 restaurants worth an estimated $39.9 million. Out of total 99 companies, 66 are main companies, 33 companies are branch companies of some of the main companies
while five companies are dead now.
The Bajwa family’s companies spent an estimated $52.2 million to develop their businesses and $14.5 million to purchase properties in the United
States, while Pakistan’s economy has been licked clean by Chinese CPEC loans.
Ownership of Business assets since CPEC
Asim Bajwa’s three sons also own the following companies in Pakistan: a
mining company named Krypton, a beverages company named Himalaya Waters, fashion and cosmetics manufacturing and retail companies Emels Allure and Mochi Cordwainers, the marketing company Advanced Marketing, real estate development companies Scion Builders
& Estates and Scion Builders LLP LLP LLP.
All these companies were set up after 2015 when Asim Bajwa was either director general Inter-Services Public Relations (DG-ISPR) or was
the commander of the Southern Command, a key position in the mineral-rich province of Balochistan, and the golden goose for Chinese companies.
All Power Tends to Corrupt, Absolute Power
The genesis of corruption in Pakistan can be traced to General Ayub time, when he started awarding lands for officers as award and it became common practice.
At present Pakistan Army alone holds 12% of the countries land according to a report, a feat unparalleled in the world.
It is a well-established reality that Pak Army runs the country
by having absolute control over external affairs, security and economic activities. Today, Army’s total private business stands at more than $100 billion and is the largest business conglomerate having more than 100 concerns, primarily in areas of banking,
food, retail superstores, cement, real state housing, construction, private security services, insurance – the list is endless.
In a written reply to a question asked by Pakistani
Senator Farhatullah Babar of the Pakistan Peoples Party(PPP), Defence Minister Khwaja Asif informed that there were nearly 50 “projects, units and housing colonies” functioning in the country under the administrative control of Fauji Foundation,
Shaheen Foundation, Bahria Foundation, Army Welfare Trust (AWT) and Defence Housing Authorities (DHAs).
According to the details provided in the reply, eight DHAs were established
in major cities. These DHAs — mostly created through ordinances — are in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi-Islamabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Peshawar and Quetta.
All of above is baffling.
Bajwa mafia control these business through various front end farce foundations like Fauzi Foundation,
Shaheen Foundation, Bahria Foundation, Army welfare Trust and Defense Housing Authority etc including Public Sector Organizations such as Frontier Works Organizations, Water and Power Development Authority, Special Communication Organization and National Logistics
Cell. It is mostly run by Officers in chair and retired officers. Few years before they also entered into oil sector namely Frontier oil company.
This is other than the fact, that after
retirement all Pakistan Army Officers open business frontends, and end up getting awarded with contracts, especially all of CPEC. China gets minerals and resources free, mount debt on Pakistan’s economy to take it over as a Colony and Bajwas get to pocket
money to fly away to their distant homes in US, Canada and Europe.
Recent exposure of Asim Bajwa’s foreign business empire, simply exposes the reality of Pakistan Army in their
true colors. Story is not over yet, but taking a minor twist, wherein feeling the heat, Bajwa announced his resignation as special assistant to the prime minister, but won’t let go of being the chairman of the CPEC Authority.
After all that’s the same corruption story repeating all over again, since last 20 if not 70 years (at a smaller scale). As such China won’t like that, and will ensure Asim Bajwa fulfills his promise of
handing over Pakistan in its “debt trap” laps, as a economic colony. All this while, Imran Khan is being routinely clueless about the whole episode, hankering on Kashmir bogey yet again, as a way out of another one of the episodes of loot of Pakistan
by the Pakistan Army?
