Even as the nation celebrates its 73rd Independence day, what we must reflect upon is the question that in this diverse culture, are we truly
united as one? If yes, then why is there still unrest among the Sikhs of the nation and why can’t they be a peaceful part of this nation?
Why are there still the slogans of #KhalistanDay emerging from within the chants of Vande Mataram. It is important that we understand what they have been wanting and who has been feeding them with these thoughts?
WHAT FUELS THE KHALISTAN MOVEMENT
The Khalistan Movement as misinterpreted by most as a religious issue was actually a political mess fuelled by
Pakistan. Pakistan has been a constant supporter of Khalistan movement and has ever since been acting as the catalyst. Pakistan helped the Sikhs in creation of an underground resistance with India, propagating the Khalistan movement. It also provided financial
support to the Sikh Independence movement and strengthened its core within India. Some Pakistani military personnel even came to India and worked alongside the militants.
Over the years Pakistan has made sure that whenever there are protests or rallies against Indian Government, they have always included Sikhs in their support. Pakistan has always been taking advantage of the
vulnerable minority and has been steering the global Sikh diaspora in the wrong direction.
